A RESEACH STUDY TO DETERMINE THE INCIDENCE AND CAUSES OF INFANT MORTALITY AGE (1-2 years) IN UGBEGUN, ESAN CENTRAL LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, EDO STATE

The Aim of this study is to determine the Incidence and cause of Infant

mortality Age 1-2 years in Ugbegun Esan central, Edo state. Infant mortality
has been a major issue/problem across developed countries, particularly the
African countries. Infant mortality Rate, for the past recent years has gradually begins to reduce, Due to Researches, government health Programmes and childhood integrated illness prevention. A Research was conducted involving the health care Centre and central hospital in Ugbegun, Edo State. Also some Hospital were also interviewed, to

determine the Rate and cause of Infant mortality in the setting. A well recorded data of past infant death was taken from the central hospital Ugbegun, between the year 2021-2022. women of child bearing Age and household heads were interviewed and given questionnaire on the cause of infant death and how they seek medical assistance during child illness. Participants are given equal right to participate in the questionnaire
that was presented by the researcher. A total sample of 60 people were given
questionnaire and the return rate was good. A total of 2000 cases where been
followed for the past 2021-2022. A Recorded Infant deaths of about 550 Infants.
Many causes of Infant mortality was Identified and properly attended to, sort
out solutions to this problems. further studies noticed that the population
mostly affected is the Rural Area of the developing or developed countries.
