ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to Unmask Early marriage and it’s consequences among teenagers in a Okpella Community Etsako fast Local Goverment. Edo State Before embarking on this research, the researcher has the following objectives:
To identify the reasons behind early marriage perpetuation in Nigeria.
To Identify how it affect girls wellbeing and constitute a violation of their human rights.
To determine the Consequences and developmental implications of early marriage.
To identify the impact of early marriage on one’s education. Some research questions were formulated and data collected using questionnaires which were distributed to married women within the age range of 12-49years A random Sampling technique of probability Sampling method was used findings shows that fistula, less education and high parity were the main negative effect of early marriage from the findings of the study, some recommendations were made which involves parents should be counseled on early marriage and its consequences
The midwife as an advocate in the community should educate the community leaders on the consequences of marrying out their daughters at a very tender age, a more rigorous enforcement of exciting laws and polices is required to discourage early marriage focus should be made on forming and strengthening anti harmful tradition schools in order to fight early practice marriage perpetuation.
